This was the 14th edition of DiversCité, the cultural festival that builds up around the Montréal Pride Parade, that was intemixed this year with the OutGames.
On a different twist on the Pride Parades, the "Nuit de Montreal Pride Parade", is hold on the Sunday night (July 30). It begun under the famous Jacques Carthier Bridge just as the sun begins to fade (20h45). The parade travels along René-Lévésque Boulevard till Émilie-Gamelin Park where the crowd gathers for post-parade night-cap till over midnight.
The Pride Parade is just the start of a full week of events, till Sunday August 6th. Among the many performers that take part in this year's Divers/Cité Festival are names like Crystal Waters, Los Amigos Invisibles, Ultra Naté, Lady Miss Kier, Nanette Workman, Amanda Lepore, Offer Nissim, Hex Hector, Patsy Gallant, Mado Lamotte, Midnight Society, Gravy Train!!!!, We Are Wolves, and many more including a roster of international and local DJs and VJs. The featured film this year, for Cinema in the Park, is the highly popular Quebec film C.R.A.Z Y.
During the Festival, Divers/Cité also organizes Le Grand Rendez vous Community Fair. Taking place over the closing weekend it features more than 80 of Montreal's different LGIBT community groups. From social clubs, sports teams, advocacy groups to health educators, all are out for a weekend of fun and cultural exchange.
In the parties section Lesbomonde and Pride Ball have become legendary among north-america LGBT clubbers. On Saturday, August 5th, the lesbian event of the year, Lesbomonde, takes over the entire Just For Laugh complex with three different rooms of hip hop, Latin, R&B, house and techno. On Sunday, August 6th party goes move to the Pride Ball, the official closing party of the Divers/Cité celebrations. Pride Ball features two floors and features an carefull selection of DJs on both the Montreal and international scene.
