Alanis Morissette

Canadiana de nascimento (1975), Alanis Morissette começou cedo a sua carreia: com 6 anos de idade já tocava piano e aos 14 assinou o contrato com a MCA/Canadá. O seu primeiro album "Alanis" editado em 1991 com uma série de músicas pop dançaveis e rapidamente chegou aos tops do Canadá. Pouco depois de uma tentativa falhada de mudar de rumo com o album Now "Is the Time" (aos 17 anos) mudou-se para os E.U.A. (Los Angeles) e da colaboração com o produtor Glen Ballard (e algumas discussões com a editora pelo meio) resultou "Jagged Little Pill". Este album disparou para os tops norte-americanos principalmente devido à música "You Oughta Know" vista como um hino neo-feminista (mesmo incluindo a palavra "f").

Na 15ª edição dos GLAAD Awards em Los Angeles, Alanis declarou que após ter tido formação específica para ministrar casamento espera poder unir um casal gay. Para mostrar que não está aqui só para brincar a interpretação de "Ironic" na ocasião teve um toque especial: "It's meeting the man of my dreams, and then meeting his beautiful husband" (é encontrar o homem dos meus sonhos, e depois encontrar o seu maravilhoso marido).
